Moulavi MMA Mubarak (Ghaffoori, B.A Al-Madina)


Birth
Born in Malwana on 03.06.1949, according to registration of birth he was born on 05.07.1949. his father was Magdhoom Alim and mother was Ummu Raheema. Magdhoom Alim was also a trader dealing in rubber. Although he was a rubber dealer, he was also working as a lecturer in Madhrasa Musthafaviyya. He worked as a Muslim Marriage Registrar for a short period.


Education At a very early age, he completed the recitation of the Holy Qura’n and then studied the fundamentals of islam in the traditional Madhrasa Madhrasathul Uloom. He had the privilege of being a student of such learned ulama as P.T.M Ibrahim (Azhari), Shahul Hameed (Ghaffoori) and Kotter Alim. He got his school education in Malwana Muslim Mixed School, presently known as Al-Mubarak Maha Vidyala. Being a bright student, he was able to earn the first place in his academic performance.
He and his parents wished him to continue his religious studies. Knowing him bright academic career, his teachers objected to his leaving school. However they had to release him from schooladvicing him to sit the G.C.E Examination, while he fulfilled in 1978.
During his eight years of education at Ghaffooriya, he excelled in studies becoming the first student. When he passed the Al – Alim examination in 1970, he was invited to be the “Pesh Imam” in Bandarawela until August 1971, is still remembered by those villagers.
His service in government school covered the period from 1971 to 1973 at Darussalam Muslim vidyalaya in Thihariyaand Galluluwa Muslim Vidyalaya in Minuwangoda.
He proceeded to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1973and persuaded his Graduate Studies in Al – Madina University, Madina until 1978. Having joined as a scout, his worked as a volunteer during Haj season. His efforts to continue his studies for Post Graduate Degree in King Abdul Azeez University, was not fulfilled as he wanted get a scholarship. When he bought the recommendation of Ash sheikh Abdul Azeez Bin Baz for higher education, he was advised to by the Shiekh to return to Sri Lanka and to engage himself in Da’wa considering the situation at that time. He was appointed as a the Sri Lankan Representative of Darul Ifdha of which Shiekh Bin Baz was the president.
In 1978 he was invited by Naleem Hajiyar and Masood Alim to be a visiting lecturerat Jamiyya Naleemiya having accepted the invitation he agreed to work for three days in Jamiya Naleemiya and three days in Ghafforriya. He had been a lecturer in Jamiyya Naleemiya until 1981. He has been working as the Principal of Ghaffooriya Arabic College, Maharagama since 1978to this date.


His Contribution to All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama.
Having been a vice president since 1991, he was appointed as the president of All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama after five years. It was the through his efforts to present head quartersof Jammiyathul Ulema was constructed.in 1982, when an international seminar was held in Sri Lanka, Moulavi Mubarak acted as the coordinator for the secretary of Rabithal-ul-alam Shiekh Muhammed Ali Haraken and sheikh Safwetha Sakka Al Armani. While travelling with these guests to Ghaffooriya Arabic College, Shiekh Mubarak discussed about the All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulema – Sri Lanka. At the occasion he made them unfortunately there was not the head quarters for the ACJUof this country. Subsequently a request was handed over them on the following day at BMICH. Three month later they sent five and half lacks through the Department of Muslim Affairs. Sheikh Mubarak served a s a president of ACJU during 1994 – 2003, since then he has been serving as a vice president.


10 Year program at SLBC.
A sermon / continuous program by sheikh Mubarak titled “Sharia Varayarai” were broadcast fro ten years. This is one of the favorite program of radio listeners. In 1994 during the period of a muslim minister this valuabale programme was suspended.

Shiekh Mubarak renders a valuable service by offering shari’a consultation to Amana Investments Ltd, Amana Takaful, Muslim Commercial bank and Peoples Leasing. He is a member of the ACJU shari’a consultation committeon Islamic Banking industry,


Da’wa Field…
He has been performing as a da’wa delegate in Sri Lanka appointing by Ministry of Waqf and Muslim Affairs of KSA. Ladies Arabic College… He has been the chairman of the As – Shiekh Bin Baz Arabic College in Malwana.


Da’wa trips…
In his da’wa mission, having travelled in most of the parts of Sri Lanka, he has travelled to many countries including Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bankok, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Jordan, Denamrk, Switzerland and Norway delivering talks and lectures.
